Overview

What is multi-tasking?

As we all know that, multi-tasking kill efficiency. In general, multi-tasking happens when people doing two things in the same time, but people sometimes hardly notices that they are multi-tasking when things are too similar.

Most people can realize they are multi-tasking of two different tasks, like studying and replying message, they are two totally different things, everyone can distinguish them right?

But when come to doing the tasks such as writing essay and checking articles online, people hardly notice that they are multi-tasking, as people tend to classify these two task into one. However, browsing and writing are two different task, switching between those two task has no difference with switching between driving and talking.

The truth is, they also consume extra energy. How can we identify such energy wasting? There are two potential solutions founded by myself.

Identify different tasks before start

Classification is the key for avoid multi-tasking. Without it, people couldn't realize they are switching between tasks quickly.

For example, when a project, check document is necessary. However, coding and checking document are two different things. Before start review the doc, writing down the things needed from the document, then read it. When coding, try not look doc.

This method frustrated me at first, as I failed to remember. However, in a long term, it helped me to understand the document.

Try to focusing on one thing, and don't be afraid of failure. Identify tasks and focusing on one will help you to grow.
